African skin is prone to dryness and requires a good moisturizer to retain elasticity and suppleness of skin texture. Stripping the skin of moisture can aggravate skin conditions. While gel cleansers appear to be ideal for oily skins, cream cleansers work best for dry skin.Look for skin care products that are cream based and contain ingredients such as green tea or tea tree oil.For acne prone skin Tea tree oil, Lemon juice and Aloe Vera are used to minimize oil build up. Use only alcohol-free products: alcohol is drying and can aggravate skin already dried by benzoyl peroxide and similar formulations. Avoid hot showers that can be drying.

Facial scrubs can help restore your complexion showing a visibly improved skin texture and clarity. Light exfoliation is good for all skin types. It can be combined with nourishing oils such as jojoba oil.
